Thomond Park Limerick, near Patrick Punch's Hotel, is the home of Munster Rugby since 1940. It was redeveloped in 2007 and now has a capacity of 26,500. It is also the home stadium of local rugby teams Shannon RFC and UL Bohemian RFC. The stadium is renowned for its unique caldron atmosphere and the hush for a kicker of a penalty or conversion. Munster are involved in the Heineken Cup and Rabo Direct Celtic League Matches for the 2011 / 2012 season.
Thomond Park has also held the concerts of The Cranberries, Rod Steward, Elton John, Pink, Bob Dylan and JLS.
